What is a king cake without a fève? French tradition has it that one bakes one small ceramic fève into a king cake or other treat during the Epiphany. The one who finds the trinket in their slice is King for the day - be careful not to bite down on it! Traditionally in France the king cake is eaten on January 6th the day of the Epiphany (the 12th day after Christmas) and you can find these king cakes adorned with paper crowns throughout every bakery in France from Christmas until the middle of January. These fèves have all be loved before and vary from wise men to animals that gathered at the nativity to angles and a rooster - we even have a soccer player!
