Hello, book club family!

August Book Club Selection: A Journey Through Art and Heart in Mona’s Eyes

As we look toward our August 19th book club reading, I am absolutely delighted to share our next selection: Mona’s Eyes by Thomas Schlesser.

If you, like me, are captivated by the "art de vivre," the magic of Paris, and the way stories can shift our perspective on the world, this book is going to steal your heart. I have heard so many fantastic reviews of this book I am excited to share it with you.

The Story

The novel tells the moving story of 10-year-old Mona, who lives in Paris. Following an inexplicable and frightening bout of temporary blindness, her family is left searching for answers. While the doctors remain puzzled, her grandfather—an incredibly devoted and wise figure—decides to take action in his own way.

Every Wednesday for a year, instead of heading to medical appointments, he whisks Mona away on an artistic odyssey. Together, they visit 52 masterpieces across the great museums of Paris, from the Renaissance to the modern era. Their goal? To commit "all that is beautiful in the world" to memory, filling Mona's internal landscape with the colors, emotions, and histories of art before any potential darkness can take hold.

If you would like to join us, it is free to do so, simply add your email to our mailing list and you will get all the Zoom details in time for the meeting August 19th at 6:30pm ET. Click here.
